Bartington Instruments offers a range of single-axis and three-axis fluxgate magnetic field gradiometers for measuring the gradient of magnetic fields. These sensors can be provided for mounting on a non-magnetic cart, or may be deployed mounted on a single and dual hand carrying system, both of which we also offer. The equipment is ideal for large and small surveys.
Grad601 This single axis fluxgate gradiometer comprises one or two Grad-01-1000L vertical component gradiometers mounted on a rigid carrying bar, with a data logger and battery power pack. It is ideal for walking surveys along a grid. It is used for archaeology geophysics, forensics, UXO detection, or pipe and cable location.
Grad-01-1000L This gradient sensor offers high stability single axis fluxgate sensor, with a 1m separation between the sensing elements, and an effective sensitivity of 0.03nT/m. It is easily mounted on the Non-Magnetic Cart to perform multi-sensor GPS based surveys. Its applications include archaeology, UXO detection, pipeline detection, and scene of crime forensics.
Grad-13 This is a digital three-axis gradiometer. It provides high resolution vector measurements on land and in water, with a measuring range of ±70 or ±100µT. Digital corrections applied to the measuring sensor and gradient data result in very high accuracy vector instruments, with the ability to obtain accurate total field data. It is used in UXO detection, geotechnical surveys, and archaeology geophysics. A version submersible to a depth of 200m is also available, which can be deployed in boreholes. This versatile gradiometer can also be mounted on the Non-Magnetic Cart for multi-sensor surveys.
Non-Magnetic Cart This is a lightweight carbon fibre cart, designed to carry up to 12 Grad-13 or Grad-01 gradiometers, plus their data logger and battery power supplies. It can be operated by one person, or be towed behind a vehicle.
